I admire the efforts by you and the Club to follow up with legacy donors. I designated my gift because the Commonwealth Club has been a meaningful part of my life for almost four decades, starting soon after I moved to San Francisco from Montana. At first I just attended a few interesting programs. Discovered I was particularly drawn to international topics, and I became active in the International Relations Forum. (At that time they called it the International Relations Section.) After occasionally organizing programs under the leadership of several very capable chairs, I was appointed chair myself and was honored to hold that position for 17 years.
One unusual - maybe unique - feature of the Commonwealth Club is encouraging member volunteers to actually plan and organize Club programs through the Forums. Another great feature: the very friendly and helpful staff. And finally, the public-spirited, kindhearted members I have met, especially fellow volunteers. After attending a Club program, I almost always feel stimulated and want to learn more.
